Leighton Meester

I am so glad that Gossip Girl is coming back tomorrow, that show is amazing! One of the reasons for it's amazingness is my favorite character, Blair Waldorf, played to perfection by Ms. Leighton Meester. She was looking gorgeous in Missoni at the "New Year’s in April: A Fool’s FĂȘte" event in New York. Her make-up is flawless, as well.

Summer

Just a little poem as I slave away during finals.

The last days of school are full of longing,
of dreams and future plans belonging
to a distance near
But not quite here
I count and list and look outside
to see a field so vast and wide
I miss my family, town, and home
But through my notes I must comb
to secure an even further goal
One that weighs on my frightened soul
But right now I am in a daze
of sunlight, dew, and misty haze,
of Popsicles, sleepovers, and barbecues
of rest, play, and time to muse
A car, rest station, country tour
are what my restless heart yearns for
My stomach churns in anticipation
for the blissful days of first vacation

Fashion Model: Sofia Coppola

Due to my insane school schedule, I haven't really been able to update. But now I'm back, and with one of my favorite fashion icons of all time: Sofia Coppola. She is of course well known as the daughter of Francis Ford Coppola, but has also sincerely made a name for herself directing films such as The Virgin Suicides, Marie Antoinette, and Lost in Translation, for which she won an Oscar. Sofia is consistently pointed out for her eye for style; she favors clean lines, flats, and neutral colors. Marc Jacobs sights her as one of his muses, and I do as well; I adore how she is usually in one of the most understated outfits in a room, yet stands out the most. Sofia is unfussy and eternally cool.

Late night soul sessions is what college is about, right?

I just took the most horrible Physics exam ever. But it's okay, I have no doubt I'll get a decent grade at the end of the semester. I really can't wait for next semester, though....just Biology and History classes sound like heaven right now.

Yesterday, my friends and I got to talking and they informed me that I am not a very openly emotional person, or I don't really display my feelings that often. I realize that it's true, I tend to keep things to myself and hold most people at a distance. It's so much easier for me to type here, to an anonymous audience, than anything else. But I'm happy I act this way. As was said about Jackie: "She knows when to hold herself back while everyone else you know gives too much of themselves at one time. So when she comes out, it's a great tour-de-force."

There is a movie being filmed on my college campus right now, Tenure, starring Luke Wilson and Gretchen Mol. I met Mr. Wilson yesterday, and he really is a sweet, down-to-earth guy. He was really approachable and laid back, and it's always so exciting to meet a celebrity! I can't wait to see my school on the big screen.

Kareena in Vogue

Kareena Kapoor was featured in last month's issue of Vogue India. Though I am not a big fan of her as an actress, I must admit, she looks beautiful in her editorial.

Dolce and Gabbana

Hermes

Gucci

Louis Vuitton

Pucci

And I just wanted to end with the stunning cover of April's issue of Vogue Italia, featuring one of my favorite models, the luminous Natalia Vodianova.

The Olympics

As much as I love spring, sometimes it's hard for me to see it as a season and not just a transition to summer, which I look forward to with the eagerness of an overworked, overstressed college student. One reason why I am especially excited is because this summer is an Olympics summer, and I am an addict, an Olympics junkie. I love the opening ceremonies, the weird sports that come on at 2 in the morning, the medals, the fluff pieces...I could go on and on. What I think I love most about it is the continuity, though...I remember rolling around on my carpet watching when I was 6, and I'd like to think that I'll be watching them at 68 as well. Also, it seems like the last venue where the world gets together amiably and takes pride in competition and unity.

Go Michael Phelps! Beijing '08, can't wait!
